OMEGA’S AMAZING MUSEUM
Part One – The Journey –
Located in Biel/Bienne Switzerland, in the heart of incredible watchmaking heritage, is Omega’s namesake Museum. We made the journey by train beginning in Zurich. If I wasn’t an “OMEGA guy” then the stopover in picturesque Lucerne for a night would have certainly been the highlight of any trip. Lucerne is one of those postcard backdrop towns that you just cannot get enough of. The following day we boarded the train for onward travel into Biel/Bienne and rested up for the following big day of OMEGA. The company, although founded nearby in 1848, moved to Biel in 1880 and the museum is walking distance from any point in town. You could literally feel the 145 years of OMEGA presence at every turn of the walk. Every single element of the final approach to the museum was presented with the same elegant precision that OMEGA is known throughout the universe for within their watch production. More on that “known throughout the universe” part later in the blog.
